If you are looking for a high-performance SUV at a competitive price, then we suggest that you look at the Tata Harrier model. This beautiful looking car from the stable of Tata not only shines in the looks department but also gives a great performance on the road.
The exterior design of this car is truly amazing with great curves and character lines that improve upon its overall dynamic looks. The Tata Harrier is based on the latest Impact design-2.0. The overall look of this car is muscular, aggressive with a hint of class through its rounded edges and flowing roofline. The first thing that will impress you when you look at this car is the bold stance that gives it an attractive road presence. The designers at Tata have used a few tweaks to make it looks trendy. One of these tweaks is the modern looking LED DRLs that gives it a trendy look. Additionally, you will find that the HIDs are integrated into the bumper and the fog lamps are placed under it to provide adequate light even in foggy conditions. At the side of the car, you will find a character line (on both sides) that travels from the front to all the way back and a chrome strip that graces the roofline. This car is based on the Land Rover L 8 platform which provides a huge space in the passenger cabin. The Tata Harrier not only looks intimidating but also has a class feel thanks to its 3D LED tail lamps which add on to its arresting beauty.
The interior of this car is designed with a lot of care and you will find that the furnishings provided in this car are top notch. The seats are well designed and have a good amount of cushioning. The seat covers are high-quality faux leather in chocolate brown color. The dashboard of this car is also beautifully designed with premium quality plastic that gives an impression of wood finish. At the center of the dashboard, you will find a highly sensitive 8.8-inch infotainment screen and AC vents. Sitting in this car is very comfortable and cozy with a perforated leather cover on the door handle, chrome finish on the dashboard and a high-end music system that will keep you entertained on a long journey. The suspension system of this car is also top notch and you will hardly feel any jerks on the road. However, the wing mirrors are placed in a very odd position which creates a huge blind spot for the driver. Other than this the overall riding experience in this car is truly amazing.
The Tata Harrier is available with a 2 L diesel engine with a manual gearbox. The engine that runs this car is very noisy and has a maximum power output of 140 HP that results in a hammering torque of 350 Nm. We were a bit disappointed that this car did not come with a four-wheel drive system or even an automatic transmission box. As mentioned earlier, the engine of this car is a bit noisy, but it gives good performance on the road. When you drive this car you will find that up till 3000 rpm the noise level in the engine is manageable, but the moment it crosses the 3000 rpm mark there is a lot of clanking sound coming from the engine and the power output is also not uniform. This may affect your driving experience, but if you keep the engine rev below 3000 rpm you will not face any issue regarding the engine performance.
The price of this car is in the range of Rs. 12.69 lakhs (approximate) to Rs. 16.25 Lakhs (approximate). The major competitors of this car in the market are Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and Tata Hexa.
