The Porsche Macan was recently unveiled globally at the Paris Motor Show and is set to launch in India in February next year. The Macan is the tighter version of the Porsche's lineup, It is the baby SUV and sits under Porsche Cayenne. The second generation Macan sees some necessary aesthetic upgradations with some visual treatments set aside for the interior as well. The second generation Macan gets a revised bumper and new headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) which comes integrated with day time running lights. The Macan gets headlights and taillights which are reminiscent of Panama. At the front, the Macan gets three dimensional LED light and gets integrated connected taillights seen on the other lineups.
The interior gets minor but necessary incremental. The centre tunnel remains majorly unchanged with a stack of multiple switches to toggle various settings. The gear lever sits at the centre of these buttons. Up front, a new 10.9 inch, full HD touchscreen infotainment system with new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) resides. Below the screen, resides various media-related toggle switches which are easy to use and access. The rear space is good and convenient for two adults. The legroom for the rear is sufficient but the lack of under-thigh support makes it a tad difficult for occupants to enjoy a long run in a stretch.
Powering this second generation Macan is a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which produces 252 bhp of power and a torque figure of 370 Nm. This engine comes combined with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive system, which allows the SUV to hit 100 kph from a standstill in under 7 seconds while attaining a top speed of 225 kph. The Macan also gets a powerful 3.0 litre, turbocharged V6 which produces 340 bhp of power and will be introduced in our market under sportier Macan S badge.
The second generation Porsche Macan is most likely to cost in the ballpark estimate of Rs. 83 lakhs to Rs. 1.61 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Porsche Macan takes on the Jaguar F-Pace and the Mercedes Benz GLC Coupe in our market.
