Mitsubishi Pajero is one of the most popular SUVs in India. Such is the popularity of this premium SUV that it is touted as the reason behind Mitsubishi still being a force to reckon with in the Indian automobile market. The present version of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is the send-generation Mitsubishi Challenger that has been rebranded to avail the benefits of the brand name. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has a robust presence and some exciting features which make it a worthy candidate to take on the established players like Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR V and Toyota Fortuner.
One look at the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is enough for any SUV-aficionado to fall in love with this premium offering from Mitsubishi. It has all the design elements going in its favour, which provide it with a distinct edge over its competitors which either look too long or too bulky. The front side is dominated by the angular headlamps that are connected with the chrome grille and bigger bumper. Its straight-faced design and front bash plate endow it with a lean and mean look. Attractive design elements like big wheel arches, sidestep, huge wheel well offer it a muscular appearance from the sides. But it falls short towards the rear side with much being left to be desired.
The dual-tone interiors offer it a decent look, but there is nothing premium about the interiors. The layout feels dated and rotary knobs are ordinary. The seating offered in the car is plush and spacious with plenty of leg-room and head-space. The third row is ideally suited for kids only. The last two rows can be folded to expand the boot space. Some of the noteworthy features in the cabin for the comfort of the travellers are cruise control. Chiller box, DVD screen for rear passengers, multi-function music players, steering mounted controls, a navigation system, auto-climate control at the front and manual control at the rear, leather upholstery and much more. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is equipped with excellent safety features such as ABS, EBD, Central locking, power door locks, child safety locks, front airbags, traction control, engine immobiliser and several more.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is available with only a single engine option that runs on Diesel, though the company offers eight different variants to choose from. This SUV is powered by a 2.5-litre 16 V Di-Diesel engine that generates maximum power of 175 bhp and maximum torque of 400 Nm. The engine is available with two transmission options, i.e. 5-speed automatic and 6-speed manual gearbox. It offers an ARAI certified mileage of 12 kmpl on the highways. The speed maxes out at 185 kmph, and it takes 11 seconds to race from 0-100 kmph.
