Overview

We were looking at some of the great hatchbacks that are available in the market and one model that caught our attention was the Ford Figo. If you want to describe this model than you can say that it is a power packed performer that comes with average looks. If you want to buy a trendier model, then we suggest that you look at the sports edition of this model. The Ford Figo has not found much enthusiasm amongst the Indian customer's thanks to its average looks and compact size that makes travelling in it a bit uncomfortable.

Exterior

Ford seems to have used the same design as the Aspire model to build this car. At the front of this car, you will find a split engine grill with wraparound headlamp cluster. The designers have tried to improve its otherwise staid look by including two character lines at the middle of the hood and two at the end, all of which seems to merge with the engine grill thus giving it a continuous flowing look. It also has character lines along the sides to give it a feeling of motion. At the back, you will find wraparound tail lamp cluster, high brake light, a sloping windshield, and the logo embedded right in the middle of the boot lid.

Interior

This model is one of the entry-level hatchbacks from the stable of Ford, and so do not expect high-end features that will make your ride comfortable. It is a simply designed car, which is plainly furnished. It allows you to commute from point A to point B without any hassle. The interior of this car is furnished in a similar fashion, which you will find in the Aspire model. However, unlike the Aspire (which has dual tone), the Figo model is furnished in all black. As mentioned earlier, the car is compact and therefore, you will feel some space constraint, especially for those who are sitting at the back. The designers seem to have used good quality plastic and fabric upholstery. However, the seats are a bit soft, which might affect you if you are going on a long ride.

Engine

This compact hatchback is available with a 1.5 L diesel engine with a five-speed manual transmission or a 1.5 L petrol engine with six-speed automatic gearbox. If you want more power, then we suggest that you buy the 1.5 L petrol engine model as it gives a respectable power of 110.5 bhp, which is the best in its class. If you are looking for great performance, then we suggest you choose the diesel variant, as it will give you a smooth power build up as you improve the revs. Driving this car, especially at low speed can give you a real headache as you will find the clutch engages a bit which affects the smoothness of the shift. However, at high speed, this problem disappears.

Price and Competition

If you are looking for an entry-level hatchback with decent looks and good riding abilities, then you should choose the Ford Figo model. It is available at an approximate price range from Rs. 5.62 lakhs to Rs. 8.25 lakhs. The major competitors of this car in the market are Hyundai Grand i10 and Honda Brio.
