Datsun has created quite a name for itself in the Indian automobile market by launching different models in different price segments. The company seems to be targeting the entry and mid-segment of the car market, very seriously that is why it has launched several models in these segments in recent years. One such model that is especially focused for the entry-level customer is the Datsun Redi Go hatchback. This compact size car is specially made for the city dwellers who are looking for a small and cheaper mode of transportation that will help them to go from place A to B without much hassle.
The new Datsun Redi Go is a stylish looking hatchback with great design and colour combination. The designers of this hatchback have made sure that this car is smaller and gets a good road presence, which will make it very attractive for those who are looking for a trendy looking car. To achieve this, they have used character lines, chrome embellishments and superior design features to the hilt. The company has used a new engine grill, headlamp cluster and character lines, which improves its looks great and make it one of the best-designed hatchbacks in this price segment.
The designers at Datsun have tried to give a sporty feel to the interior furnishing of this cute looking car and they have succeeded in their effort quite significantly. When you step inside the car, you will find that the front seats are quite spacious and allow the riders enough legroom. However, the moment you try to sit in the rear seats, you will find that space a bit cramped (it is worse for tall people!). However, we did not find any problem with the cushioning of the seats, which felt great with good back and thigh support. When you look at the dashboard of this car, you will find that it has a simple design, which looks quite elegant and the instrument panel seems to be placed in quite an intelligent way, which helps the driver to access them effortlessly. Overall, we were quite satisfied with the comfort level of this entry-level hatchback.
The Datsun Redi Go available five trims and all of these trims are fitted with an efficient 800 cc petrol engine that is integrated with a five-speed manual transmission box. This configuration allows the engine to generate a maximum power of 54 PS and a torque of 72 Nm. The 800 cc engine gives an average mileage of 25.17 (ARAI figure) and a maximum speed of 140 kmph which is quite remarkable.
The Datsun redi Go is an entry-level car and is available at a price range of Rs. 2.59 lakhs and Rs. 4.15 lakhs (approximate). The main competitors of this car in the market are the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the TATA Nano Gen X.
