In 2018, BMW had added a new petrol configuration to the already successful X1 series. Before this year, you would only find the diesel version of this automobile. The price range of these premium compact SUV starts from INR 34.4 lakh. The new petrol configuration (X1 sDrive20i) priced at INR 37.5 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India) remain positioned above the above the basic model, sDrive20d Expedition. This automobile was first unveiled during the 2016 Auto Expo, Greater Noida. The new petrol upgrade is a part of the second generation of this series and comes with front-wheel drive moving on from the rear-wheel-drive options.

The engine is mated by 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The SUV takes 7.6 seconds to reach from 0 to 100 Kmph, and the maximum speed is 219 Kmph. This upgrade promises to reduce fuel consumption by 17 percent and reduce the carbon footprint in the process. The industry experts believe X1 would offer fierce competition to Mercedes-Benz GLA200 Sport, Audi Q3 30TFSI, and Volvo XC40.
