Audi released the second-generation RS5 coupe in India in April 2018. This premium coupe would make its entry in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) like all its predecessor performance models. RS5 is the second launch from Audi in 2018 after the unbeaten run of Q5 SUV in January. This sporty coupe sits on the MLB platform which the German automobile giant also uses in the manufacturing of A4, A5, and Q7.

RS5 is one of the best looking Audis, and the exterior lines of the car seamlessly flow from the nose to tail. It has a prominent shoulder extending character to the car. You can avail it in 8 attractive colours- Floret Silver Metallic, Nardo Gray, Glacier White Metallic, Daytona Gray Pearlescent, Mythos Black Metallic, Navarra Blue Metallic, Sonoma Green Metallic, and Misano Red Pearlescent. RS5 has sharp and slim Matrix LED headlamps and a large honeycomb grille in between bearing the distinctive RS logo. The front fascia also carries angular air-dams with the stylish splitters in them. The rear end of the car also has an elegant boot-lip spoiler, wrap around tail lamps with attractive LED graphics, and two stylish exhausts popping out beneath them.

Audi RS5 has futuristic highly advanced interiors with flawless Nappa leather upholstery and a clever combination of carbon fibre trim and brushed steel pedals offering a smart, sporty look to the car. It has two stylish rimless doors, electric front seats having inbuilt massage functions. The Virtual Cockpit or the instrument cluster is easy to use and grasp the senses of the rider with its exciting graphics. The infotainment system comes with Bang & Olufsen music system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation.

The second generation RS5 comes with a smaller 2.9-litre TFSI V6 twin turbo engine instead of the behemoth V8 of the older version. The motor generates a maximum 444 bhp@5700-6700 rpm power and a peak torque of 600 Nm@1900-5000 rpm which is a considerable increment of 170 Nm from its predecessor. These modifications help the car to sprint 0-100 Kmph in just 3.9 seconds. The engine remains tuned to an 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox supplying power to all the wheels. The top speed is 250 Kmph, and the mileage is 11.1 Kmpl.

Price and Competition

Audi RS 5 is available in the Indian market at INR 1.1 crore (ex-showroom), and this sporty coupe offers fierce competition to Mercedes-AMG C63 S and the BMW M4.
