The Redmi Note 13 Pro aims to redefine what consumers can expect from a smartphone in the mid-range segment.

Xiaomi's Redmi Note series has long been a benchmark for exceptional value for money and it is hoping to continue this tradition with the Redmi Note 13 Pro, a feature-packed device that it says punches well above its weight. Launched earlier this year in India, the Redmi Note 13 Pro aims to redefine what consumers can expect from a smartphone in the mid-range segment. In this review, we'll delve deep into its various aspects to see if it lives up to the hype.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Price in India

The Redmi Note 13 Pro is priced competitively, making it an excellent value proposition in the mid-range smartphone segment. The base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at Rs 25,999, while the higher-end 8GB/256GB model retails for Rs 27,999. The maxed-out version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs Rs 29,999.

Design & Build Quality

The Redmi Note 13 Pro features a sleek and modern design that belies its affordable price tag. It has a glass sandwich design with Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front and a glass back.

The phone is available in different colours including black, purple and white. The black and purple colour variants have a matte finish while the white colour has a glossy, reflective finish.

With a  6.67-inch display, the Redmi Note 13 Pro  strikes a balance between compactness and screen real estate. It has incredibly slim and symmetrical 2.27 mm bezels that improve the viewing experience.

Despite packing a large battery, Xiaomi has kept the device relatively light (187g) and pocketable, making it comfortable to use for extended periods of time.

Display

One of the highlights of the Redmi Note 13 Pro is its 6.67-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, which has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a 120Hz peak refresh rate. The display offers vibrant colours, deep blacks, and excellent contrast, making it ideal for multimedia consumption and gaming.

With a claimed peak brightness of 1200 nits, the display remains legible even under direct sunlight, and I found outdoor usage hassle-free. Additionally, support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision allows users to enjoy HDR content from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in all its glory.

The in-display fingerprint sensor worked reliably and made unlocking this phone seamless, in my experience.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 13 Pro is equipped with a versatile triple-camera setup. It has a 200-megapixel primary camera that uses a Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS—the same sensor as on the Redmi Note 13 Pro+. This is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The main camera can record 4K videos at 30fps with modes such as Short Film, Kaleidoscope Filters, Pro, and Pro Cut.

The primary camera delivered impressive results in well-lit conditions, with ample detail, accurate colours, and minimal noise. In low light, the camera struggled to capture textures, though the night mode did help enhance some details.

The ultra-wide camera easily captures sweeping landscapes and group shots. It worked well in daylight, but detail was not that pronounced since it has a relatively low-resolution sensor. The macro camera enables extreme close-up photography, but results were hit-or-miss because of the lack of autofocus system.

The phone's front features a 32-megapixel selfie camera within the punch-hole cutout. It produced sharp and detailed self-portraits, perfect for social media and video calls.

Performance

The Redmi Note 13 Pro packs a punch with its powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. You get up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage and for the purpose of this review the 8GB+256GB storage variant was used. Whether it's multitasking, gaming, or productivity, this device handled everything without any signs of stress, delivering smooth and lag-free performance.

The Note 13 Pro is able to hold its own in benchmarks such as AnTuTu, Geekbench, 3DMark, and PCMark. In the CPU throttling test, the phone reached 86% of peak performance and remained stable throughout the 15-minute run, indicating sustained performance.

Xiaomi's HyperOS, based on Android 13, optimises the user experience with a host of customisation options and features such as lock screen personalisation and improved privacy and security features. The HyperOS interface feels snappy and responsive due to the system-level optimisations and its 27% lighter install size than MIUI.

Battery & Charging

With great power comes the need for reliable battery life, and the Redmi Note 13 Pro didn’t disappoint me in this department. The phone’s 5,100mAh battery easily lasts through a day of heavy usage on a single charge. Whether streaming videos, gaming, or web browsing, the Note 13 Pro provides around 6-6.5 hours of screen-on time.

Furthermore, the Redmi Note 13 Pro supports 67W charging, ensuring users spend less time plugged into a charger. With the bundled charger, the device can go from 0 to 100% in under 45 minutes.

Verdict

The Redmi Note 13 Pro is an impressive mid-range smartphone that offers an excellent balance of features, performance, and value. Its premium design, vibrant AMOLED display, capable main camera, and long-lasting battery life make it a strong contender in the crowded mid-range smartphone market.

Whether you're a gamer, a photography enthusiast, or a power user, the Redmi Note 13 Pro is a well-rounded device with an excellent price-to-performance ratio.
