The Ola Electric founder took to X (previously Twitter) to fire his latest verbal salvo on the infamous “OATS” remark
The war of words between Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola CEO, and Rajiv Bajaj continues. A few days after the Ola founder challenged the Bajaj Auto bossman for a live debate, he took to X (previously Twitter) to comment on Bajaj’s ‘OATS’ remark. Aggarwal added a small video clip from the Bajaj Freedom 125 press conference in which Bajaj quoted “I have said before, legends have OATS for breakfast, so we will rekindle that memory for you” and posted “Today they’re eating OATS, tomorrow they will their words”. The OATS that he is referring to are Ola Electric, Ather Energy, Tork Motors and SmartE.
Rajiv Bajaj at the Bajaj Pulsar F250 launch a couple of years back had said that he would have OATS for breakfast. This statement was made with a backdrop of new players entering the EV space and in his opinion legacy brands like Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company and Royal Enfield are the champion brands of the industry and they are here for the longer run. While there was no reaction from the founders of Ather, SmartE and Tork, Bhavish Aggarwal had quoted last year, “If they eat OATS for breakfast, I put ICE cubes in my drink”. In this statement, he was referring to the internal combustion engines (ICE). In fact the tagline for Ola Electric has been “End ICE Age” which the brand was promoting heavily on its social media platforms.
The latest verbal salvo by Bhavish Aggarwal on Rajiv Bajaj is the second one within a week, whether the Bajaj Auto bossman known for his in-your-face statements, offers a counter, remains to be seen.
